Our History
Founded in Faith, in 1906
St. Francis Naggalama Hospital was founded on 6 March 1906 by Rev. Mother Mary Kevin Kearney (born Teresa Kearney, 1875–1957), an Irish Franciscan missionary who arrived in Uganda in 1902. Her work across the region led to the founding of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa and the Little Sisters of St Francis of Assisi — and to hospitals and schools, including this one, that continue to serve communities across Uganda today.
